Guidant Ventak Prizm AVT
Guidant Ventak Prizm AVT defibrillators used to treat cardiac arrhythmia and certain vascular deficiencies suffer from a memory error that affects the ability of the device to provide the necessary shock to prevent heart malfunction. These devices have an error that prevents the programming from responding to irregular heart rhythms within the appropriate amount of time. There are an estimated 21,000 devices with this potentially fatal error, and over 18,000 in the U.S. alone.
