Guidant Renewal 3 AVT defibrillator
Guidant Renewal 3 AVT defibrillators have a potentially dangerous error in the programming of the memory unit that may prevent them from properly anticipating and adjusting an irregular heartbeat. There have been no fatalities associated with this malfunction, but the 21,000 patients with these devices should consult their doctors to see if they need reprogramming to compensate for this flaw. Guidant is hoping for a non-invasive solution to this problem before years end.
